Fall 2007
Why would your kid be embarrassed when you follow him into is his first lecture the first day of Medical School to get a pic to be a part of his life? What can I say, we are proud of him.
Scott graduated from the magnet program in Environmental Sciences at
the Western School of Technology and Environmental Science in
Baltimore, Maryland. |
| Upon turning 16, Scott became very active in the
fire department and obtained his firefighter and EMT certification.
While completing his senior year of high school, he began his studies
at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. After spending some
time studying Biology and Chemistry at UMBC, at the age of 19, Scott
decided to take time off to become a paramedic and gain clinical
skills that would help him achieve his life-long dream of becoming a
doctor. During his time off from school, he worked as an Emergency
Room Technician, and then as a Paramedic for the Baltimore City Fire
Department. |

 |
After 3 years away from school and having gained
invaluable clinical experience, Scott decided to return to school to
pursue becoming a physician. He was accepted to the United States
Naval Academy, through the Naval Academy Preparatory School in
Newport, Rhode Island. However, he decided that the USNA was not the
way to go to become a surgeon, so he returned to UMBC. After
completion of the pre-medical requirements, Scott graduated from UMBC
in May 2007 with a bachelors degree in Sociology, concentrated in
medical sociology. He spent the summer after graduation working as a
Forensic Investigator for the Maryland Medical Examiner's Office.
This past August, Scott began medical school at the American
University of the Caribbean, with plans to become a surgeon. |

| During his breaks from medical school, Scott continues to volunteers
as a Paramedic at Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department, where he was
previously an EMS Lieutenant. He loves the challenge of saving lives,
which helps him continue to strive for his goals. Scott also loves to
ski, and combines his love for skiing and medicine by being a part of
the National Ski Patrol. Finally, Scott helps out in the family
business from time to time. When he's not volunteering, skiing,
working, or studying, Scott enjoys skydiving, photography, and scuba
diving. |
